Friends in Christ,
In the Gospel of Matthew, the sixth chapter, Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount, “I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:25-27). According to Jesus’ words, from the perspective of acknowledging and trusting in God, there is no reason to worry constantly about the things needed for life, for God will take care of those who trust in and seek after Him. In fact, Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Those who seek the Lord (or believe in and follow Him) are promised to have what they need. Indeed, people often don’t get what they want in life, but we are promised that we will receive what we need if we follow Christ in faith.
